I have grown herbs in my garden for years but I have never taken the next step and tried to dry any of them. I was definitely growing more than I can use when it is still fresh, so I finally decided to check out a food dehydrator. There are many to choose from, but after some research I finally went for a Nesco Food Dehydrator. I felt pretty confident after reading so many 5 star reviews! I’m so glad I bought it!

Some of the critical features include:
- 5 drying trays!! This not only means you can dry a large quantity, but the trays are sealed from one another, so you don’t have to worry about the flavors mixing as they dry.
- It’s powerful 700 watts of power shortens the typical drying time so that you can dehydrate your favorite foods, herbs and meat in hours instead of days.
- It also has a top mounted fan, which any food dehydrator should have and an adjustable thermostat (90-160 degrees F) to allow for more variety in food drying options.
- Its opaque exterior blocks light, which would otherwise compromise the food dehydration process.
- Measures approximately 13 by 13 by 10-inch

It includes a recipe book and 3 jerky spice packets to help get you started!

So far I have experimented with dried fruits and my husband is making some noise about trying out some venison jerky!
